Machzor Vitry: History, Textual Traditions, and the Customs of the School of Rashi
Joining prayer, halakha, aggadah and community life.
A halakhic and liturgical encyclopedia from Rashi's school, preserving the French rite and early Ashkenazi traditions.
The writings of Simchah of Vitry can be read on Sefaria, a free library of Jewish texts. A title opens the text itself.
Content from Sefaria (sefaria.org) and Wikimedia projects, non-profit projects.
The archive doesn’t yet record an unbroken road from Machzor Vitry to the chain of transmission: the trail reaches back to Rabbi Elazar Birabi Kalir and stops there.
